How To Do The Shoulder Stretch In Yoga
You want to begin with your yoga breathing just like you do when assuming any posture.
With your right arm point it upwards. Now you want to bend it at the elbow. The idea here is that the palm of your right hand should be touching the back of your right shoulder.
With your left arm bend it at the elbow toward your back. You want to have the back of your left hand against your back.
If you are able to then clasp hands. Reach as far down with your right hand as you can and move your left hand up as far as you can. Back off from this posture if you are feeling any pain. Pain and extreme discomfort is not good and you do not want to inure yourself.
If you are unable to clasp hands and there is a big gap then consider using a yoga strap.
You will probably find that one side of your body is more flexible than the other.
Remember to keep breathing correctly through the posture. You can do this posture standing or sitting. Hold the posture as long as you can.
