Learn CPR

Being able to CPR is a very handy skill to have. After all you could end up saving someone's life. Now there is a certain way that you should do CPR and ways that you shouldn't. This hub will teach you CPR techniques.

CPR Techniques

1. Make sure the airway is open when an adult needs CPR. The airway may be blocked by food or another obstruction. When you take a CPR course, you will be taught how to clear the airway so that the person will be ready for breathing.

2. Begin rescue breathing. When performing on an adult, do 30 chest compressions and then breathe twice into an adult's mouth. Use both hands when doing chest compressions and place them in between the nipples.

3. Place your mouth on their mouth and blow twice. Remember to blow into their mouth while plugging their nose at the same time. Listen for breathing and start again.

4. Perform only 5 compressions on babies and animals and only use 2 fingers to compress their chest. Only breathe once and start over.

5. Understand that by performing CPR, you can stop the damage from happening to the brain. The person, baby or animal can be fully resuscitated when the paramedics arrive in time.

6. Keep doing CPR for as long as you can. You cannot hurt the patient and can only save their life or prevent brain damage. Try to keep as focused as you can on the CPR steps you are performing.
