Folding An American Flag Navy Style

There is quite an art to folding the American flag and it is even trickier when you fold the American flag navy style. There is a number of steps to folding the flag navy style. This hub will teach you how to fold the American flag navy style.

First off lower the flag down the flagpole. Now you need to unhook the flag from the halyard.

You need another person to help you know. Face the other person. You want to hold the flag waist-high. The trick here is to make sure the flag is horizontal to the ground. You want to have the union the furthest from the audience and it should also be to their left.

Now take the lower part of the flag and fold it in half lengthwise over the Union.

Now you want to fold the flag lengthwise one more time. You flag should now have a quarter fold in it. The left side of the flag should only show the union. No stripes should be showing. The right hand side of the flag should only show 3 full red and white stripes. There should also only be a small part of another red stripe showing at the side furthest from the audience.

Now take all the edges and hold them taut. You are going to now begin a series of triangular folds, making right to left folds. The way you start this is by making a perfect triangle starting at the far right end of the flag and fold in the edge nearest the audience, inwards to the furthest edge. Next fold the flag in other direction. Keep folding again and again until you reach the Union.

Finally you fold the last triangle shape and tuck the upper left edge of the union into the top fold of the triangle. Your flag should be nice and tight and there should be no edges peeking out. The end result is there should only be the union with blue field and white stars showing.
